What Marco is after is something professional-looking and/or something that wouldn't look out of place in a laboratory; so how about the
Studer/Revox C221 CD player
Available with either the Studer or the Revox logo, the two machines are identical. They can also be fitted with brackets for 19" mounting racks.
I have one (labeled Revox) with the 19" mounting brackets.
Being a professional studio machine they take a bit of fiddling with the settings to use as a domestic player.
Don't recall you mentioning that you have that Revox player before Barry although I'm sure you must have. Very tasty.

How would you say the Revox sounds and operates compared to modern players Barry? Are they reliable? Are the parts readily available? I would imagine back when it was made there wasn't much variation in the way they worked. Either Sony- or Philips-based, though I stand to be corrected.
