Materials Technology this week, if you don't mind.
So let's try & gloss over the over-exuberant frivolity at the end of this thread & concentrate on the matter in hand, eh?
So what do we know about Torlyte & is it still relevant to hi-fi in 2011?
Is there something else that would do the job just as well (or better)?
Some geezer called Vinyl Grinder posted this one back near AoS's beginning. I think he quite likes prog, this guy. Post Number 230 from February 2008

The FM tuner - there's still life in the old dog yet. Fancy a Leak or a Quad? Barry compared two classics back in June 2009 for Thread Number 3007 in an excellent piece of writing. It's this sort of stuff that makes The Art of Sound so great.

Right back to the dawn of time this week (well the dawn of AoS time, anyway).
January 2008 was the date that Thread Number 8 was started by Marco

So what does the membership know about this subject that wasn't mentioned back then? 'Peaches and Cream' or 'Dog's Dinner' - what's the key to finding the magic recipe?

Right then you 'orrible lot. There's a thread (Number 7365)that's in need of saving & you're just the people to save it!
Get yerselves over to:
Degrees of Seperation right now. It was started in August of last year by Alex and it's been kept going so far on the Alex/Barry/Wazoo life support machine (ably assisted by one or two notable folks like Dan and others).
It's not that old but it is fun.
If you don't know anything about music then it doesn't matter, just exercise you Google muscle.

I should have mentioned that you don't need to wade through the whole Degrees of Separation thread to participate, just the first page & the last page will do it!

On Tuesday this week it will be two years since I volunteered to take on this thread from Nick's original one ( http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2727)
I really enjoy looking back over the old stuff to try to find something every week that I think has become topical again, or might just be of interest to folks who may have missed it first time around. Apart from just the one time, I've managed to find something every single week for two years & that says something about the members here, I think.
So this week it's a bumper issue to celebrate.
This was a story that we all followed with great interest - I think we were all cheering Steve (Twelvebears) on as he reached the final straight of his journey to rebuild some much loved speakers into slate cabinets.
The first instalment was here:
Slate/stone speaker cabinets.
