I've studied this photograph, become cognizant of the fact that you've made it with your mate in your living room in your spare time and now I've fallen on the floor and don't want to get up.

How much is used from the original Boom Box? Just the laser?

Amazing work :stalks::stalks::stalks: This isn't a criticism but you'd have got much better results by using a decent transport from a donor CD player that the cheap transport from the portable stereo.

A decent pro metal Philips mech with glass lensed laser would be vastly superior imo ;)

Can't fault the build though, never seen anything like it before :wow:

I only did the electronics in the livingroom...I have a small private workshop....you can only process those materials with pro tools...sorry :)

I "only" use the Sanyo SPF Laser and the JVC chipset...it is the synergy of that PARTICULAR SET and is eg. found (hardly modified) in Lab47 stuff...

I bought about 10 the same boomboxes and went ahead (re)building and trying out...the standard small print is VERY trickey and poor quality..

All inspired in the beginning on the American DIY Shigaclone thread and Polish tread...I myself was a bit skeptical of that hype so I started to take it further and further and.........

I hate to say it but here you are very wrong....besides that fact that it is commercially also used in Lab47 very expensive PiTracer Flagship Transport...I found out myself how analog this Sanyo plastic stuff sounds with the JVC chip set...never ever heard that particular quality in the big boys transports to be bought only in the High-End stratosphere.......

Obviously all the other qualities of that Sanyo set where still vastly inferior compared with them .....but that "analog" sound got me hooked and it took us approx 1 year to build it to my liking......nearly completely built on our subjective "hearing"....hahahaha..

I (and often We) where able to listen to it during the build on a daily basis.....changing/adding/leaving out components...

I have built a mini PiTbull Transport version of this for my best audiofriend ..he sold his (very expensive !!!) Wadia Reference 16 for it....:)

No need to say that spares will never ever be a problem for me...hahahahaha

You do surprise me ;) I'm know Wadias are very good having heard a good few myself, i'd still not part with my Krell transport though, not even for a bakers dozen of them ;)

Don't worry, i have spare lasers for my Krell to :lol: There are literally hundreds of machines out there with the same laser fitted (even if it's not the same metal mechanism), any CDM4 laser can be transplated to this metal CDM mech :)
