The History of Mr Polly. 1949. Directed by Anthony Pelissier from the HG Welles novelette.
Pelissier wrote the script too.
Stars John Mills as Polly. Findlay Currie steals a few scenes as the evil drunk, Uncle Jim.

This stars Tom Hanks and Paul Newman in a fairly graphic American crime syndicate drama.
Directed my Sam Menses from the novel by Max Allan Collins.
Quite a slow and at times dreary affair but also very well done.
Cast is superb and also includes Daniel Craig and Jude Law.

'Trippers Day' with Leonard Rossiter, the very first episode: "Special Offers". This was very short lived TV series from the early 80's they only made a handful of em. However it was better than the programme re-introduction under 'Slingers Day' with Bruce Forsythe taking over the leading roll..

Bought this as an xmas present for one of my brothers and he got me the same thing in return. So thought I'd give it a watch. It's long, it rambles, it's really good but not in any specific way. One of those films that is so intircate you could watch it many times and still see new things.

A 60's all the way film now.. Directed by The Saint director Jeremy Summers, the 1964 Crooks in Cloisters stars Ronald Fraser as Head crook and head monk. A good cast for the day including the very pretty Francesca Annis in her first major role I think.
A number of Cornish locals were cast as extras etc in film too.
One of my fav light films this.. Anything with Ron is good.

Just poured my last dram for the evening (Lagavulin 16) and settling in to watch one of my top ten movies from 2016. Outstanding performance from Florence Pugh. Tis' a bit dark mind, folk getting bumped off left right and centre, but I like dark indie films!

Regarding old programmes new remastered, Does anyone find its totally destroys the old feel of the Movie/Programme
That's probably how I'd feel, but each to their own. I'd probably rather watch them on VHS tape on an old CRT TV, but even that would be grossly too modern for some of Granty's prehistoric 'classics':eyebrows:
