itll either be one you like or hate i think Barry. She is an alien in a human 'skin' who goes about Scotland picking up single Scots guys and drawing them to their grisly fate. Soundtrack is electronic from Micachu,(Mica Levi)and is eerily good. Scarlett doesn''t say a lot; nobody does and it is fairly repetitive til nearer end. its slow, filmed in low light, but the imagary is great at times and i really enjoyed it; yet found it a bit unsettling too.
a lot of things maybe could have been bettered but may have spoiled it too. it is what it is, and after watching it ive ordered the bluray; an odd compulsion to rewatch

Saw that film, didn't like it, thought it was creepy as hell, may be that means it was good?

Went to the cinema for the first time in years today. The London NFT, saw Wild Strawberries (Bergman - 1957) at the NFT 2, a medium size screen. Great watching a film without distractions, and a respectful quiet audience, mostly old blokes, what do you expect though at 2pm on a monday! Actually there were some youngsters there too. Apparently one of his best films, certainly a bit jollier than typical Bergman fare. I liked Persona best, like to see that on the big screen. Wanted to watch Ridley scotts debut as well (The Duelists) but that was 6.30pm, didn;t feel like hanging around that long, next time.

In the '70s I was a Member of the NFT and saw some good films there. I have always been interested in 'foreign' films, rather than Hollywood, and saw a lot (but not all) of Bergman's output there. Obviously a lot of the films shown are sub-titled, which some dislike, but I don't as I find 'dubbing', no matter how well it is 'lip-synched' to be a greater distraction.

Do try to see 'The Dualists' - it's a bit slow moving, but worth persevering with for the final denouement.

I loved the Jacques Tati films when I was young.

I have seen Bergman movies, but don't recall which. It was ages ago.

I went there a fair bit in the 90s and 00s, they've since moved the ticket office to the back end of the building away from the riverside.Love the NFT 1, and how the audience are always so respectful, that is quiet. Used to be lots of rep cinemas back then, not so sure now. Down here in Brighton we have the beautiful Duke of Yorks cinema, a real gem, but they don't show so much rep nowadays.

Director Kathryn Bigelow found that no existing camera system could accomplish the shots necessary for the point-of-view sequences, so the research division of Lightstorm Entertainment (the company of writer/producer James Cameron, who was Bigelow's husband at the time) spent a full year designing and fabricating a special camera for the production. Weighing only 8 pounds, the 35mm camera literally fit in the palm of the hand and featured interchangeable lenses, remote follow focus, and video assist (necessary since the camera had no viewfinder). The camera was then mounted on a SteadiCam-style portable rig, which gave the camera stability and mobility similar to the human eye.

James Cameron first conceived the story in 1986, but shelved it due to his commitment to other projects. He revived the idea at the behest of ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow after he had also helped her re-write Point Break (1991). Cameron handed in what he called a 'scriptment', a cross between a script and a story treatment, but had to leave due to other commitments. The screenplay was finished by Jay Cocks who was mainly responsible for the dialogue.

The opening sequence of the film was shot at four separate locations, as one contiguous location could not be found. The cuts between shots were disguised by rapidly panning the camera around. Due to the pace of the scene, the sound men could not effectively record any of the actual sound on the set. All of the sound and dialogue in the sequence had to be overdubbed during post production.

In the scene where Lenny uses the S.Q.U.I.D. to watch a clip of his past with Faith, Faith throws a blue towel and him and says, "Dry me." It is a reference to Blade Runner (1982) where Zhora throws a towel at Deckard and says the same line.
