Simple Dreams spent five successive weeks at number 1 on the Billboard album chart in late 1977, displacing Fleetwood Mac's Rumours after it had held that position for a record-breaking 29 weeks. It also knocked Elvis Presley out of the number 1 position on the Billboard Country Albums chart after "The King" had held it for fifteen consecutive weeks following his death in August.
If you have not ever listened to Nilsson then try this one out or "Nilsson Schmilsson", a very inventive and great artist IMO.

Yes Nilsson was a great song writer and new how to get the best from a lyric, often the songs have a tinge of mockery or humour to them which I like. There is a new album being released on 22 Nov 2019, apparently just before he passed away he finished recording the vocals to 12 songs for a final album, this was never completed but has now been done by his son and some other musicians. They are an interesting listen, "Duck Stab" is the more accessible of their albums. a very interesting band.
