To be honest, I am pretty happy with the S9000ES, cant fault it. :)
At this rate, a t-amp, its boiling! Honestly, I think I may be sorted, certainly don't want to spend any more anyway.
Whoa - I just caught up with this thread - boxswap mania - I know a Master of the Art when I see one! :eyebrows:
So what did you think of those AE2 speakers, Rob? -- yeah, I know it's a while back! - I think they are very hard to drive to get the best out of them,.
Jerry, its been a busy few months ;)
Yeah they were nice, not as open in the midrange as the Kolts, and I did not need the extra output/spl that they could provide.
Hmm - yeah, fair enough.
I had a feeling with the AE2's that there was always something more to be had, but I couldn't quite find a way to get at it! Quite a frustrating speaker, I thought it should sound better than it did. It sounded somehow like a big speaker trapped in a small cabinet! :)
Yeah, I think I may be just about there though, The Icon/Audion combo is really nice, the Audion is not as impressive as the ASL's seem initially, but it makes everything sound just right, rather than one or two things WOW and the rest frustrating.
The Audion is a beast though, runs very hot!
Leaning towards the KT88 with it, but the KT120 only seem to come into their own with bass heavy transients (Massive Attack, Prodigy, Orbital etc).

I will stick my head out and say, I am now sorted for amps, the Icon / Audion is a great pairing. Bar any major life disasters I can't see me changing from that combo. Not 100% sure on the vinyl front though.
The CDP, Pre/Power and Speakers are keepers. You can quote me on that!
