Grant Brown (Struth) Moderator - RIP

As always an interesting thread drift, as a non smoker who has had asthma for over 60 years but has only recently become an issue, with several chest infections in the the last year or so. After another doctors visit a couple of moths ago I was referred for a CT scan, although it was not mentioned they were looking for lung cancer, thankfully I don’t have lung cancer but my windpipe is totally knaggered due to all the coughing and breathing issues.
This is something I will have live with and currently have another chest infection, just finished the latest round of antibiotics and steroids, not much change looks like heading back to the doctor for some more.

Sorry to hear that Robin. Do you use an inhaler? I would say keep up with the whisky, but that's only going to help the other pipe.

You have my sympathy Robin, a lifelong and unprovoked struggle with breathing issues.

Similar with my brother, who in spite of a healthy lifestyle (non-smoking as well as being being part of a rugby team for most of his adult life and a keen cyclist) getting throat cancer twice in recent years. Seems a bit unfair. He's been nagging me about smoking for years, and is buzzing that I'm now giving quitting a serious go.

Then there's my uncle, who has been super-fit all his life, being an instructor in judo, scuba diving, and rock climbing. Can't do any of it now due to Parkinson's, struggles to even walk the dog. Life can be a real shitbag.

It's been a long time since you last posted here. What have you been up to in the meantime? Any changes to your audio system, any new records, CDs etc.?

Every time you buy a bottle of Laphroaig whisky you can claim a square foot of distillery land. :)

I had my left lung removed a few years ago due to asbestosis , the surgeon showed me the damage that smoking for 30 years had caused , Barely anything ! 5mm shadow at the bottom of my lung , I then had a “ tombstone heart attack “ last year and again a completely different surgeon said the blocked arteries were nothing to do with smoking [emoji2369]
I’m now smoking every 30 seconds [emoji16]
