No that isn't the case, music is pretty much done by 8Khz look at a chart of the frequency ranges of instruments. We're actually missing out on very little.

Got to a concert grand and hit the top key, you can hear that at any age unless you have serious hearing damage in which case you'd be using hearing aids.

Excellent Martin, I'm well inside that range.

That chart reinforces the claim that you don’t need to hear up to 20kHz to enjoy music. All that top end hearing loss does is to curtail some of the harmonics of all musical instruments (the yellow part of the spectrum shown in the chart). It is the harmonics that give musical instruments their character.

You would have to not be able to hear anything above 1k for all instruments to sound more or less the same.

Interesting, thanks, so I’m not done for yet, though the Darby and Joan club (which I had heard of but didn’t know the origin of) sounds rather inviting!

Why are estate agents so crap?

My morning walk takes me through the posh area and I sometimes see houses for sale I quite fancy.

I know can't afford them but I like to look them up anyway to see how much I can't afford them.

They're only very rarely on the agent's web site. Anyone know why? Or are the agents just bone-idle piss-takers who get their commission for doing nothing?

Are you putting "Houses I can't afford" into their search bar? They might think it's not worth the effort to give you the info :doh: Tbh it's not something I've thought about before. Sometimes I'll see a house I like when out and about. But by the time I get home I've forgotten the Agent's name.

Yes that happens to me too. Plus with some of these newer estate agents their logo is so fancy you can't work out what their name actually is so you can look them up.

I think a lot of them only use Rightmove - might be on there?

I reckon if you know the name of the street the house is on, you Google (or whatever) "houses for sale on..." and it might appear.

No, can't find it anywhere.
