Tell Me Something............Anything!

I have a 'business' debit card for work-related purchases (fuel, tools etc), because all the receipts go to the accountant, but otherwise pretty much everything is cash. Online purchases Anita deals with. If it were me I'd probably get scammed out of all our savings while buying cat food off Amazon :doh:

That's one of the reasons I always carry cash and usually a bit of a float of change. Like to have at least 20 quid on me, ideally £100. I mean you never know.

I like to have £100 in my wallet, sadly I rarely do, as my wife knows that’s what I do! (I’ve bought some great bargains at the car boot, apparently!)

I don’t carry change on my person these days, but have a bag of coins in the car which is usually with me, and a few pound coins in my “dog walking bag” for eggs from the farm nearby.

And now I hardly ever use my physical cards to pay electronically, all on my phone, which I was very late to, but makes it much easier.

Cards or phone, it is still cashless and dependant on technology. And what if your phone gets nicked? - it won't be just the phone, it could be several hundred pounds as well.

Phone is far safer than a card - phone uses facial recognition to authorise any payment whereas a thief can just tap the card (up to £120 I think it is?) on a reader without any secondary validation. :)

It doesn't need facial recognition - I see people pay for bus fares using their phone, and they don't use facial recognition.

I have never lost any card that was issued to me.

It depends on how it is setup I think, I haven’t used it on the bus but I have to use facial recognition in a shop and then double-click the side button, so pretty secure I think.

Sadly I’ve lost my wallet on 3 separate occasions, on two of those they used contactless on a shopping spree, the third time I think it was my son when he was a toddler as it disappeared from where I always kept it in the kitchen never to be seen again, but cards were never used. I suspect he buried it in the garden somewhere!
