Tell Me Something............Anything!

I'm still bashing away at that yard clear up. Over the hump with it now I think. Filled 8 garden bags so far.

Just been doing a couple of hours a day on it. There was a blackbird knocking about today. It sat on the wall about four foot from me for ages while I was working. It didn't seem bothered at all.

Today's first job - cleaning the windows at the back. Never been done on the outside before - and they were installed in 1999...

25 year's worth of grime - I'm surprised you can see through them! :eek:

Why don't you find a reputable window cleaner to do it for you. I have one who calls once a month and cleans them all; back, front, top and bottom for £10.

I wouldn't be too hasty about that, consider the possible ramifications first. And be prepared to budget for net curtains.

One time in my adolescent years I looked out of my back bedroom window and was greeted with the sight of a bloke across the way washing his willy in his kitchen sink - I may have been spared that trauma had there been 26 years of muck on my window.

Actually they weren't that bad, I was expecting a transformation, but no. I suppose the rain cleans them to some extent and god knows we get enough of that.

No chance of paying someone to do it especially not now I got time to do it myself. Just need to do the insides now - after second breakfast.

That's ok for the downstairs windows, but what about the upstairs? Easy enough if you're an ex-Harlem Globetrotter with a good set of ladders, but for us mere mortals those tall windows can be a real stretch and an accident waiting to happen.

Pricey though isn't it? Sure I could knock something similar up with gaffer tape and a couple of mop handles.

As mop handles are a standard 4' long, you'd need at least four to reach your bedroom windows. At roughly a fiver each, you're already at 20 quid (unless, unlike me, you keep a stock of mop handles just in case). Then there's the gaffer tape and something to attach at the end to do the cleaning.

Cheapest way is to get a window cleaner in, then fire him off after the first visit. He won't be best pleased, but when in 26 years you get him back again he'll probably have forgotten :)

I always have a stock of mop handles and gaffer tape in. I mean who doesn't stockpile gaffer tape?

Anyways that's a job for another day. Music time now.
