There are some really nice sounds to be had from vintage continental drivers. Not tried Telefunkens, but had Philips, Peerless, Audax, Saba and Isophon vintage alnicos and others.
Aye, they were used in churches often in multiple driver boxes so may have done....they are 10 inch diameter with alnico magnetsQuote:

Well actually they are less than 3 ohm nominal each although probably average out at about 5.. the 2 in series give just under 6 ohms nom. they are extremely efficient at about 100db but only 8 watts. Dont really need more than a few to sing loud and true. Get the reflex box right and they are fabulous speakers and have ousted by far all others Ive heard. (for me anyways)
got some alnico Philips drivers here.. they aint in same league.. not sure what model though

From the US. University (subsidiary of Altec) Diffaxial 312 drivers. 12" twin cone plus concentric phenolic dome tweeters & alnico mags all round.
They sounded amazing, but needed boxes that were just too huge for my environment. Shame.
They look nice.. big boxes probably of size I just built.... my Rola's are a bit like that with the twin cone. not as smart, but same sizeQuote:

Early KEF B139 with foam surrounds and Celestion HF1300 or similar model. I believe Radford made a speaker like this in the late sixties. They won't sound very nice. The B139 is hopeless at anything above 500Hz.Quote:
