Yep - I've had my eye on Wiggles' Shosty on BIS for some time but they don't come cheap and I have never quite plucked up the courage to spend the necessary spondoolies, tight-fisted git that I am! :eyebrows:
Hmmm ..... :hmm:

Just bag it, dude. Ya only lives once!
Marco.
Doh! -- OK - I've just invested £5.60 in Shosty's 7th symphony as conducted by the Wiggling One on BIS. :) All the others are more expensive, so I'll see how I get on with Numero 7 and I'll see if I fancy investing the necessaries for more of them -- it's not as if I'm short of recordings of Shosty symphonies!
Lol... Bet you've got tons! I fancy this, from Hyperion (any thoughts on its musical merit?):

That site is a veritable hive of temptation!!

Hmm, interesting. But most of it is not 'pukka' Shosty - it's his music arranged for viola and piano by other composers. The viola sonata is original Shosty, though.
Could be good .... but ....
Do you have a recording of his violin concerto #1? -- if not, I'd go there first if it were me.
This recording is so awesome that words fail me.

Nice one, Jerry. I shall purloin that later :eyebrows:
Currently waiting on this arriving from the States:

Yum, yum! :)
Marco.
The Shossy Violin Concerto is wonderful.
That Moussorgsky Pictures is the original piano version, not the orchestration by Ravel.
Yup, I know. It's lauded as a superb recording! :)
All the vintage Mercury Living Presence classical releases I have on vinyl sound utterly stunning.
Marco.
Indeed:

Also includes Moussorgsky-Ravel Pictures at an Exhibition. Antal Dorati, Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra.
