Since 'semi' retiring I'm finding it difficult to keep track of what day it is, and it's really doing my head in. I've gone all day thinking today is Saturday, and I can't shake it. Any suggestions from fellow retirees, or should I just get used to folk thinking I'm losing my marbles :scratch:
try to have something you do on different days. that keeps you on track
I'm fully retired, and whilst I know what day it is, I don't necessarily know the date.
Having a diary is essential for me to keep appointments.
I don't like to be rigid in what I do each day of the week; especially as my partner and I move around a lot, either in this country or abroad. Keeps me on my toes!
Both good (though slightly conflicting) suggestions. Maybe I can take something from both:)
I always used to have a work diary (which was also used for other entries) but I didn't stick with it after retiring. I reckon I could get one for this year for next to nothing now :)
Also I could probably do with a pastime that occupies set days of the week, at least until I can get used to not having to be up and out at set times for work. A bit of structure for weekdays might be what I need. Ofc weekends are another matter!
Lack of structure in the day was one of the things I struggled with. Also I couldn't get anything done as I was thinking I'm retired so there's no motivation to do it right away. It's all so open-ended.
That's why I didn't even last three months.
I've plenty to do during the day: play records; play CDs; read books (often have two on the go!); cut the grass; wash the car; do the cross word, and failing that cooking and choosing the wine. :D
Yes - books, music, TV, that's what I did. I spent 5 years as poxy student and had no problem just doing that stuff then, so not sure what changed.Quote:

I've got a bedroom that is literally half full of boxes. Just don't have a daughter to do the work of shifting it.
Actually I did have a sort through it a while back. I don't want to chuck any original equipment boxes because they add value on resale and are handy for carting kit to meets or pals houses - and that turned out to be more than half of it.
Regrettably my mate from London was staying with me and, trying to help out, ripped up a load of them and took them to the recycling. Somehow he managed to leave all of the generic boxes and ripped up a load of the original boxes.
she is helping me get a bit more orginised. ive had boxes for a few years; its mostly kitchen stuff. thats most of them now so can get in room and see what ive all got. there is a lot of hifi stuff to go somehow, but it will need picked up or junked. even a reel to reel lol and a thousand cables.Quote:
