Yes but can they tell the time ?
Is Rachel Riley still on it?

She is and yeah, I know.
Jeez YES!
I could drink her bath water.
Climbing out of the gutter…

Nice, I like that one. (And the Corgeut - similar vibe to the one I acquired from you which is still going strong and is worn regularly!)
Raining again but quite mild, 8C.
Fancied a new pocket watch, just arrived.

Very “steampunk” which is just why I went for it! A whole nineteen pound’s ninety nine pence!
Another Promaster for the collection

It's different.
A couple of my watches. I’m a fan of 90s mid-size Omega’s in particular.
The numerals on the 5200.50 aren’t for everyone, but I like them.

I’ve not seen that second one before, something different.
I have a Planet Ocean I don’t wear nearly enough.

80’s Promaster

Fished this out of a box in the under bed drawer this morning - fake, of course, and hasn’t seen the light of day in at least 25 years. Wound it up, and to my surprise it works - still going strong now, and still keeping the right time!

Looks the part Alex.
This arrived this morning from Singapore

Unusual colour on that one.
I need a good day today, a winner needs a Winner watch!

Bit naff really, but matches my light blue suit.
I only just realised it has a second hand, and a separate second dial, what’s the point of that?
Reminded me of this:

Ha, ha, so it wasn’t even real! (I don’t remember the film, but I am sure I remember that scene.) wonder how much it went for in the end?
Film is available on ITV X so might put it on a bit later.
Meanwhile, got back home and two deliveries. I decided I wanted to buy another watch, have ended up buying 6! Well, if they all get here - 2 still to come from India and one from USA.
First up, it appears to be a genuine Roamer movement, but clearly the rest is a “frankenwatch” and I don’t care one bit, really like it, and goes even better with the blue suit!

And my second delivery, a Seiko 5. For some reason I thought Seiko’s are a lot more expensive than they are new, but having done a lot of searching and googling I really fancied something “vintage”- well, 20th century. I have decoded the serial numbers and it is either December 76, 86, or 96 - my money is on 86. Advertised on Vinted for only £60 and described as “looks like new” and whilst that’s a little OTT, it certainly is exceedingly good condition for a watch at least 30 years old. I remember commenting on one of Roy’s watches that I liked the 24 hours, so a “Railway time” Seiko seemed a good idea. I absolutely love it! Problem is, despite 4 other watches in transit (stay tuned for when they arrive!) I now want more vintage Seikos…. Oh dear, as Roy says, more addictive than hi-if!

That Seiko is well tasty.
And only 60 quid? I'd have that :)
Thanks Martin, I really do love it, if I'd paid ten times what I did, I would still be grinning! it's only 36mm case size so smaller than modern watches but for me they're far too big these days for formal wear.
I'm pretty much the only bloke at work who still wears a suit and tie, and I always wear a 3 piece with a tie and matching pocket square, then same colour socks to match. I do get the piss ripped out of me but it's been my "thing" for 30+ years, so I ain't going to change now! Anyway, I foresee a vintage watch in the appropriate matching colour joining each ensemble soon! This one will go with anything, but 3 of the 4 in transit are more colourful options!
I'm not keen on the big watches either, they just don't look right to me even on a chunky wrist.
I mean it's only one step from that to having a kitchen clock hanging round the neck like a rapper.
The quartz watch graveyard recovered from the bedroom, some not working for decades or even looked at.

Bought myself a cheapo watch tool kit off Amazon (£13.99) and an assorted pack of 50 watch batteries (£7.99) and gradually working through them. Done 4 tonight, that’s enough for one go (There are 15 in total, but some are too naff to bother repairing!)
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...072660bb02.jpg
There’s a Casio digital in there which proudly states “10 Year Battery” and it’s still going strong! More like 20 years! Has gained an hour and fifteen though!

Today’s fixer-upper - Timex Indiglo (press the crown for night light), couldn’t get the back back on last night, so ordered a press from Amazon which just arrived and hey presto, literally, all sorted. That’s another £15.99 invested in my fixit kit, though, but still means I will have saved plenty on the cost of taking them to get fixed. (£29.98 spent, excluding batteries.)
This one needs a new strap, really, loved it at the time and worn a lot.(looks like it has a scratch on the glass but it's not, must be a reflection.)

Been a busy boy Alex! Got one of those Casios, think it was £17 new?
This arrived today, another ‘solar’

If you need any straps Alex give me a shout, I’ve got one or two kicking about…
Cheers, Roy, appreciated. It's been lots of fun "tinkering" - and more to come! Just found up my digital caliper so I can get accurate strap measurements - I'll be a pro, soon!
