A Creek Destiny 2 integrated amp. Heavy beast. And sounding very good indeed.
It's about the most neutral sounding amp I've heard, everything crystal clear and no emphasis on any part of the audio spectrum, transparency is great. Lovely!

It's a bloody good amp. I reckon you could slot this into just about any system and get very fine results.
My mate has it driving his Tannoy Chatsworths as a change from his regular EAR 861 and he's very pleased with it.

I find it remarkable that a pair of comparatively inexpensive old speakers can turn out this kind of sound quality.
The Corellis do have a reputation as being a bit of a 'sleeper' and being familiar with all the old 'C' and 'Reference' ranges of KEF's, I'd say that's correct. The imaging and mid lucidity are similar to the LS3/5a, but there's actually some effective and solid bass too.

I know who bought these. It's my buddy with the Creek Destiny 2 that I was using last week and showed on this thread. He enjoyed the sound of my Corellis.
Blimey, did some arse inject steroids to the price! 2-4 years ago, I used to see Corellis selling for £70-130.

Most are not in mint condition. I've seen higher prices asked though and he doesn't have to pay shipping, as he can collect.
Well, I've seen mint examples selling way below £100. But this memory is going back to around 2013. I predict another rip-off ebay price brewing for the Corellis future.

I'm hoping it will keep transformer buzz down. I expect it provides a degree of protection to transformers too.
I've got one piece of equipment with a noisy transformer and I had a power amp mains transformer fail not long ago.
Great choice! Built and installed mine a couple of weeks ago, works perfectly and my big fat power amp is now quiet as a mouse! :)
Picking one up for my Airlink balanced mains unit, looks like it works really great.
Its in another room so don't hear any buzz, but cant help feel its putting some muck on the electrical lines somewhere?
KEF Corelli speakers. Just giving these little things another go after unhooking the big Tannoys. The transparency of the Corellis is quite remarkable, especially when you consider their simple design and forty year age. I have the original Monarchy Audio SM-70 (not the Pro version) power amp driving them and the way you can hear deep into the recording is uncanny. I was playing some 'Biosphere' and the huge ambience came across superbly.
That's very disconcerting. I was playing Sharon Robinson's 'Everybody Knows' album on CD and noticed some bass distortion on right channel whilst playing the title track. I thought 'bugger, a rubbing speaker coil'. So I took the bass driver out of the Corelli and checked it over. Seemed OK, put it back and played the track again, distortion still there, so I swapped the speaker leads over. Sure enough, distortion on left now. It's on the bloody recording!! :rolleyes:

Seriously though, I'm going to try and resurrect this. The arm is knackered, the anti-skate mech has been busted at some time, not uncommon on these I gather, frail plastic innards. Not to worry, I was thinking of installing another arm anyway.
The main turntable section seems all good, apart from a deteriorated thrust pad under the main bearing spindle. The bearing itself is super quality, full length bronze bush in very nice condition and a snug fit with the spindle even without lube.

Dunno which arm to fit though. Jelco SA-5, Linn LV-V, Decca FFSS, Helius Basic or Mission 774. Might go with the Helius, as I've never used it and it is the original first model, which was quite well reviewed.

When I took it apart, the bearing was packed with thick grease and the spindle was very resistant to turning. Somebody used the wrong lube at some time. There are 'mole grip' marks on the bearing base cap. I'll remove the offending marks and lube with decent oil. Gonna need an 'O' ring, biggish fibre washer or silicone sealant to stop oil leaking, I'll suss that out later.
The new pad should be fine, but if the Tufnol wears, I'll bung a brass one in.

Right. Main bearing all back together and lubed. I found a thin synthetic rubber washer just the right size to seal it. Mole grip marks ground off, so it looks as it should again. Up and running, with speeds steady after a couple of minutes to settle. It hadn't been run for about twenty years. Wiil get around to checking the motor over properly later.

I have a feeling this is going to be a nice sounding TT, it's quite hefty. A sort of belt drive 401 :). I'll add some bracing and damping to the base and might put some decent vents in the bottom cover, so the air inside does not form a resonant 'box'. I won't leave it off, as there are mains voltages in there.
would be inclined to give wood a good stripping....and redo, perhaps altering colour slightly.:) maybe a ebony armboard too
Yes. I will refurbish the wood. I like the existing Walnut, so that'll be staying.
Already got an armboard made up, going to do that charcoal semi-metallic to match the existing paint on the TT. Already have the paint.
Next will be mounting the board before marking out for arm position.
Looks okay so far. Looks like it could be a decent deck.
