Nice one, Alfie - looking good! How's the SPU sounding now that it's bedded in? :)
Marco.
It's sounding very nice mate :) But to be honest the DP-6000 still needs some work & I've not found my final SUT yet!
The SPU Royal has a Replicant 100 stylus which seems quite sensitive to setup & as you know there's very little adjustment with a GM SPU! I've been experimenting with spindle to pivot dimentions. The FR64 STP is 230mm but the SPU headshell puts the stylus a couple of mm infront of my downloaded arc protractor so setting the STP at 232mm seems to make a difference, but which is better i'm not yet sure!
The DP-6000 may still yet get re-plinthed & needs new footers & the mat sorting out!
SUT's I've been playing with alot for the last month, Guy sent me up 6 or 7 different SUT's to try with the Royal, mostly vintage MIC transformers & I've also played with both A23 trannies. Ortofon recomend >100 ohms but I seem to be finding better results at about 30 to 60 ohms! The Altec Peerless 4722 at about 38 ohms seem to suit the Royal very well & I'm looking around for a pair! The Hashimoto transformers look quite interesting to if a little expensive to pick up a pair just to try. I might yet write a little up about the SUT trials.
It soon became obvious that the quality of the transformer i.e. winding, core etc make as much difference as as matching the load!
Anyway, perhaps this is not the right thread for all of this ;)
Keep em coming guys.
