I realise that horns are not widely appreciated here but these Emilar Bowtie horns are currently a bargain :)

Not so much not widely appreciated, but rather I'd imagine that most folks haven't heard really good ones to comment :)
Not exactly the easiest things to get a demo of ;)
Marco.
no drivers either .. Ive a set of horns in plastic... they are crap built tbh but sound good enough. these in ali cast will with drivers in be the business
what 'is' a bargain?
Not, not a bargain at the buy it now price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quad-303-/191817557083
some folk are hopeful
303 will never sell for that kind of money!
S.
I sometimes still feel tempted to try one of these- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Abrahamsen...4AAOSwPc9Wy2qv

See the seller's user name.
Also a bit optimistic: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/One-Pair-Q...-/291693696480
I could be wrong, another pair for quite a bit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quad-II-Am...-/182043211111
Stupid, stupid, stupid and STUPID PRICES!!
These common Quad II amps are not even rare!
S.
My Quad II's are in far better condition than those two pairs. What I had not realized is that the GEC Marconi KT66's are worth a fair bit by themselves.
Beam Echo amps http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Beam-Echo-...-/301887830505
and yes I like the 405/2 as well.
My preference, amps all standard, best first:
Quad II (provided suitable speakers used)
Quad 303
Quad 405-2
Quad 405
I still have all these amps
Almost any speakers that don't require a terrific grip of the bass, some, not many bass reflex systems tend to be slightly boomy. My Tannoys are fine, although reflex. LS3/6 has tighter bass on 405-2, but rest of the freq range I prefer 303.
I have so many, but Quad ESL57's, LS3/5a, LS3/6, Tannoy HPD315, JR149, my Quad ESL63's have developed a fault, so can't use them.
I have four 303's, can't think why!
This is the Proton 520B, similar to the 520 except minus tone controls (I believe). I'm using a 520 through Rogers LS3/6 at the moment, it's an excellent little amp, can't fault it.

Just spotted another difference, 520 can be used as a pre for any other power amp, doesn't look like one can do that with the 520B.
It seems that NOS 401 is not rare anymore:D

No wonder. They floated off the The S S aloniki (see location):D
This Armstrong 424 Tuner 421 Amp combo has great retro looks.
Might go well n the kitchen as the tuner dial matches the wife's kitchen aid :eyebrows:

quite nice this duo, alas pick up in Dumfries

When they came out I liked the look of those, couldn't afford them though.
Looking it up, came out in 1975, but in 1976 I found the money for a brand new Quad 405.

Think I saw them at a Hi Fi show somewhere, might have been The Eagles playing through them

Won this on a maiden bid..spoke with guy and he said he would pack it for me to send courier :eyebrows:
May need some caps replaced i guess so may try and get ali tait to give it once over.
Never tried that model Grant. It'll be interesting to know what you make of it (just taking a break from painting the landing ceiling :)).
The Leak is more than a ittle reminiscent of the very rare seventies Lustraphone LP100 integrated amp.

Some similarities

The do look good but you know what they say about the Rank era Leak.
I had a Leak receiver once, 2000 series. Went down on one channel. I sent it into the repair shop to be fixed and the repair shop burned down...
Cheery bastard aint you;)
Its paid forcand courier arranged and should be with me on Saturday barring the van crashing and bursting into flames:D
