In those days most Wiganners looked like Cheetah. It's got better since improved roads have brought 'fresh blood' into the area :)

Yes it is. For part of the year they used to board over the pool and have ballroom dancing there. They did have a second, slightly smaller pool that stayed open all year. That Maindee pool looks great, shame they have to ruin these things in the name of 'progress' :(Quote:

It closed about 20 years ago, don't know why peeps these days don't want to go swimming. I can;t imagine boarding over a pool these days and using it for other activities! I think sometimes we've got too much these days, and no community spirit left. Can you remember going to the cinema?

They don't like tall diving platforms and springboards these days, somebody might get hurt .
Diving or bombing off the canal bridge behind my local pub used to be popular on drunken summer nights. Not by me, I was always a bit wary of the dumped bicycle frames and supermarket trolleys hiding in the depths, not to mention the odd bobbing turd or dead rat.

spent a lot of time in this pool.. big boards are gone tho i think..spring is still there in that pic
neolithic burial site in the hills here.. you get a great view of a chunk of central scotland from there. you can enter from a trap door but its pretty tight. if i got in(unlikely) i'd end up being a part of it.
