Tell Me Something............Anything!

Thanks guys, I've had a lazy couch potato day, being waited on hand and foot. Mrs. P got me a 'smart watch' (that's what it says on the box). I don't really need a gadget to remind me what a lazy git I am, but if it at least tells the time I'll wear it :)

For Christmas I got her one of the figurines she collects (she's up at about sixty of them now (called Willow Tree I think), and it took me a couple of purchases/returns to hit on one she didn't have :doh:

She wanted (as usual) to wait until after Christmas to pick out a gift for herself, but then just before Christmas she informed me that in June we're going to see Rag 'n' Bone Man at Cardiff Castle, with bed & breakfast at a hotel 5 mins walk from the venue. We'll have a couple more days in the area while down there, I'm told Pembrokeshire is a nice place.

I asked her how it is a gift for her when I'm going too, and she said me being with her is part of the gift, What a sweetheart! If only she'd actually said that. I'm sure she was thinking it though :)

You've got an easy birth date to remember! Happy birthday. When in Wales best to stay away from Newport, I was brought up there, it's a proper shit hole. Cardiff's OK though, a few arcades, some nice pubs, castles worth a visit too in the day time, and a very decent museum if that's your thing.

had to get up early today... got a message that fridge delivery would be 7 am :eek: so i got up and emptied fridge etc.. they didnt arrive till after 8, still it was early enough.. they took old one away plus all packaging. just letting the coolant settle before powering up.

I was waiting in the checkout queue at the local supermarket today when I noticed the customer ahead of me was being particularly awkward and tedious with it.

He wanted to buy a packet of (I think) Marlboro cigarettes, which the sales assistant quickly found for him. But no, he didn't like the picture on the packet!

For those of you who don't smoke, you may not be aware that these days to encourage smokers to give up, cigarette packets are adorned with a photograph of what damage smoking does to your lungs. Now I would have thought that one picture of diseased lungs looks pretty much like another - but this awkward customer insisted they found him a packet with a different picture. The sales assistant called for the supervisor, who pointed out that they could only sell the packs they were supplied with and he would have to 'take it or leave it', as he was holding up the queue The customer was adamant that they find him a different pack - the standoff only being resolved by the supermarket staff going through the entire stock to find (mirabile dictu) a pack that satisfied him.

Then he wanted to buy a Lottery ticket - and finally quibbled over the change he was given! :doh:

The poor sales assistant had the patience of a saint, and if she was new to the job it was a bit of a baptism of fire for her.

London again for the 3rd day running, nowt to do in Brighton when it rains. British museum was ok, though a bit busy. After a while though you get bored of all those statues and carvings of soldiers on horseback..... The scarab beetle was good, and a few impressive sarcophagus, oh and the Assyrian half man/half horse. Sat in a cafe, I'm the only white guy there, everyone else either arabic/asian! Soon our cities will just be playgrounds for the rich kids of the Middle East and China.

You should have gone downstairs to look at the Benin bronze plaques. They were looted from Nigeria but could possibly be returned on an exchange exhibition basis.

Didn't know there was a basement, will likely go again soon, it's a huge museum, after seeing one or two rooms, fatigue sets in. Went to the Courtald gallery recently, small and perfectly formed.......

Agree re. the Courtald gallery. :) The Victoria and Albert museum is also well worth a visit; but like the BM, one has to be selective.
