very nearly bought a pair bout 10 yr ago same time i got the sooloos. Was picking up sooloos then going to guy wi maggies cant remember model offhand but was 4 panels. He text me while i was buying to say he had knocked one over and had bust it so i ended up buying my pmc. Do love the mid n top end and realism of electrostatics have heard few martin logan ones n quad n always been intrigued. Always boils down to bottom end i like a pair of speakers that when house is empty or occasionally when it isnt i can make shake.
thinking of cheating n scratching my itch by getting some electrostatic headphones then get best of both worlds. Just need to find some for a bargain.
I owned 57's for years, which I loved... when I moved I just didn't have room for electrostats... I've never heard ML's...
I know what you mean about this missing "bottom end" but that doesn't bother me one bit... however if I know my lovely neighbour isn't in they do 'wick up' quite nicely
When I went to the dealer for the Maggies I thought I'd be buying the 1.7's but after hearing the .7's... I just prefered them, sound wise...it wasn't due to money either as I'd already put aside enough for the 1.7's to come home with me
It's taken me about 25 odd years to get to a sound I'm 100% happy with and it's a nice place to be... I can't see me changing anything... the 383 & 390 seem to like the Maggies too

I had a Hugo for a little while.. I can't remember which one mind... I loved the sound but hated the ergonomics... still the best Dac I had was the Audio Note though...
got hugo tt2 at mo and is stunning ergonomics bit quirky but is no denying the sound
I did like the Hugo... as you say it's a "bit quirky"...however after a while I found it just 'too much' somehow... too much detail maybe... I don't know
I also owned the Naim Dac for some time which I liked... but, still, if I had to own another Dac I would go straight for the Audio Note tube dac...

With headphones especially, most of the music's in the midrange, and quality, open-backed headphones produced a beautifully lucid and 'airy' sound, which I think would suit your tastes in music perfectly:)
ATs also deliver big on the SPPV front, due to economies of scale, so a £200 pair of their high-end headphones is often the sonic equivalent of £500+ designs from smaller, supposedly 'specialist' manufacturers...;)
They're also light and comfy to wear!

Replaced the flex on an iron today. It had frayed with use, and even worse the outer rubber cladding had split exposing the three inner cores. Often with modern electrical items, they are deliberately designed to be irreparable, but this was an old model: a Rowenta made in Czechoslovakia and some thirty years old.
Even so, I could not see how to to dismantle it to replace the lead. As always, my partner just took one look at it and spotted a solitary fixing screw tucked away behind the rubber cable relief shroud. It was then straightforward to open up the iron and replace the lead, but it took an extra pair of hands to refit the screw!
