I always like the Stemfroot 'S60'/'SF100' amps..

Radford employees formed Sondex Marco. They built the later Radford amps (Mk IV and Renaissance ranges, I think) for Radford/Woodside.Quote:
Where's the Sondex, though?

Genexxa GX-600
I've not come across these before but they appear to be well designed and built, plus I think they look smart. Might be worth a punt for someone...
did anyone around here buy this Rogers, looked to be in very good condition
Brand new Garrard 401 anybody?

This is going to go for silly money!
Sony APM-22ES, flat diaphragm speakers. These have reputation for sounding very good! Item in Goole.

KEF 104 speakers £100 or offer. Seem reasonably tidy, price OK. In Suffolk.

Got a few quid to spare? Huge JBL L300 Summit speakers. These are monsters and sound spectacular. Very nice. In Loughborough.

This might be a good deal for someone - a Bewitch 6550 valve integrated.
A lot of amp for the money, I believe the Puresound A30 is based on this -

Here's the perfect thing to solve all those Rega versus SL1200 arguments!

Look on the History tab for more info.
I can compliment and blame Dave Alner for Nytech 252 series too it seems :)
Anyone know anything about Goodmans Goodwood speakers?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GOODMANS-G...item3f1f614388
That wood finish is rather tidy ...
Thanks Geoff - is the Magnum K the best of the Goodmans speakers?
Hi Jules, the Magnum K was possibly better than the Goodwood, the main difference was the 12" bass unit, the Goodwood having what some called a 12" unit but was really a 10" driver with a wide flange.
My favourite of the seventies Goodmans was the Magister (second series with DT3 tweeter) which had the whopping 15" bass unit. They sounded rather nice.
Now there's a question...
As Geoff says, the Magisters are rather spectacular and I've heard good reports of the Goodwoods although not personally heard a pair. Then of course, there are the Achromat Sigmas which are fetching silly money currently and the Achromat 400s which are a later variant with a 12" bass driver and dome midrange and tweeter.
As a final thought, as Goodmans did a truly bewildering number of ranges and models, I suspect there is actually no-one on the planet who has heard every one and can thus give us all a definitive answer!
Hmm, I have an idea forming for Scalford 2014 - a Goodmans room....:eyebrows:
Mutter mumble double sodding post grumble.....
Surprisingly, I believe I have heard all the seventies Goodmans models (yes even the Dimension 8 and Double Maxim) and owned a few.
The Achromat in fact used derivative of the bass unit from the Goodwood, effectively a 10" driver, but with wide elongated flanges. many people describe it as a 12" unit, but the cone area equates to the same as most 10" drivers. The Mezzo series used a similar unit with a smaller magnet and no plastic skin on the cone.
They are all quite pleasant speakers to live with, although I was less keen on the 'SL' models that sported the clear dome Phillips tweeter, it had a bit of a bite to it.
Then there's the Goodmans Audioms and Axioms :eyebrows:
Do these get anywhere near to vintage Tannoy quality?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Goodmans-A...item2c6bb854f0
I've heard and used these. They were popular in seventies disco/PA columns. WEM used them, I remember replacing blown ones in our big disco rig.
The Audioms and Axioms have their followers and do sound OK, but could not in my opinion seriously be regarded as matching vintage Tannoys.
As bass and full range drivers of that type and era go, I far prefered the 12", 10" and 8" Wharfedale drivers, the RSDD Super 10 being a favourite.
These Wharfedale W3s end in 3 hours.

Nice old pair of Leak 600 speakers in Somerset. Ends tomorrow, may go cheap.

Oooh... Those look very interesting indeed - possible 'giant-killers' there, me thinks!
Marco.
I'm not keen on the frequency spectrum being divided five ways, but they may sound brilliant for all that.
The B&O speaker to watch out for is the Beovox 5702. All Celestion drivers, basically a Ditton 66 with 10" bass driver and ABR, amazing! Check it out.
Nice, but they're not tempting me away from my beloved MS150s!

Vintage Goodmans Maxim speakers in Margate. Watch the bidding go silly on these. I used to buy them from boot sales for about a fiver (that's about all they're really worth).

Anybody want a not very good pickup arm? ADC ALT-1, ending shortly.

Celestion Ditton 25 speakers in Harrow. May go cheap. These are good fun! Ends tomorrow.

This has to be seen to be believed - a burn-in device for your phono-stage! :rfl:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390532084321?redirect=mobile
Note it is covered with the epithet "Great Sound Escorts" - does that mean you get a blow-job whilst waiting for your stage to burn in??
These guys should be ashamed of themselves for selling this junk.
These Heybrook's are superb amps, I regret selling mine.

It's crap! I bought one new back then. Slack counterweight thread, loose headshell mounting, flimsy, resonant arm tube. Too little mass for an average MC, too much mass for a contemporary high compliance MM. It's just not worth bothering with. A (closely related) Linn LVX would see it off.
