Not always so good with guns our police. I still remember the Stephen Waldorf shooting. They hit the poor bugger five times. He was lucky to survive. And there was that bloke carrying a table leg for repair, they killed him.
Not as bad as the lunacy in the states though.

There was a case three or four years ago in Chorley, where a blind man was tasered because the police thought his white stick was a samurai sword. Even a blind man could tell the difference. Imagine him leaving the house "hmm, that's not my stick, feels more like a sword".
Perhaps crimes involving weapons, particularly firearms are still relatively rare compared to US (that looks set to change) so our officers haven't had enough practice.
We're told that the police and the courts are coming down hard on knife crime, but I saw a programme earlier this week where a scumbag was stopped in his car, and the police saw that he had a steak knife in the door pocket, with the handle sticking up, presumably for easy access. The youth received a police caution for this.
Prisons are already full of people who did actually stick the knife in someone so there's no room for those who have the knife but haven't got around to sticking anyone with it yet.Quote:

Place was packed and I was starting to feel agoraphobic (a dislike of crowded spaces). Had to 'swim against the tide' at some point, as I refuse to be 'herded' and obliged to follow their one-way system. The queue for the restaurant was impossible - so we bailed out and managed to pay and leave surprisingly quickly.
