Indeed. Pretty much as a rule their vinyl is overpriced, marked up as Ex/Ex regardless of the actual condition.

But £425 for a pair of 12in Tannoy DCs in good nick with hardwood stands is not bad ...

I do agree, however at one time they might’ve been priced at £25, brought in by some old dear (without a scooby what they were), who’s husband had just died, etc - and where the shop also didn’t know any better!

These days, unfortunately, the majority of charity shops are all too ‘clued up’ on the stuff that’s worth money, and thus priced accordingly…

:lol: Current most overused statement in small speaker sale adverts ! I can think of no other speaker that that does such wonderful vocal reproduction & yet gets everything else wrong.

Yep, theres no excuse as to why 40 odd year old kit should not look in that condition. All mine does.

When i see comments on other listing like 'The usual condition commissure with age' & 'Condition as to be expected from a 40 year old unit' really make my blood boil

Makes you wonder what condition it was in after 5 years. Was there a point in time where they said to themselves 'I've had this amp for 10 years now so it's time to start kicking it around the room like a football.'?

Fact is the careless sod probably started dinging it up from the moment they got it out the packaging.

Well, thinking the seller would keep to his word regarding some sort of refund, I left positive feedback to maintain his 100% record. And after sending pictures of the damage, he has not replied.

After looking at the cover I found a load of small fractures and didn't think it was worth further work so I bought one from iconic-audio. For £37 inc. postage, it seemed the obvious thing to do.

Haven't decided on feet yet.

Does this goon really believe that? Oh, and they were not "made to order". They were a regular production model that cost about the same as the KEF Cadenza and Goodmans Magnum K2.

Knowing the AR6, I'd say that unless they've been repaired the frail foam surrounds will be on their last legs.

(I see these are in Wrexham. Hope it's not a chum of Marco's listing ;))

Surely the problem is that the foam surrounds are likely to need replacement, as all AR 6s will be 'getting on a bit', to say the least...

To be fair, refoaming AR's is about as easy a job you can get. The magnet gap is huge and therefore so is the margin for error.

Perfect for a newbie to hone their refoam skills on.
