Thats more like it! I felt a bit sorry for the Micro as it were on the floor... Like something the missus would batter with the vacuum cleaner or the kids to use for target practice or such! :)

Long time no update but considering there has been only few minor updates lately in my system like the higher grade Graditech cables http://www.graditech.fi/g-cable/, that is no surprise. The music flows nicely on daily basis and my system seems to live the most stable phase in more than 20 years.
So here are two mobile pics from the yesterdays jazz session we kept with minima in the middle of the house vacuuming task promised for Mrs. If you have not checked out the latest album Pekka by Verneri Pohjola yet, I suggest you do that asap. Have a nice midsummer all!

Would you mind telling us a bit about the sound from the Genelecs? Suppose they are highly revealing, but do they work well from a distance also? I suppose they are studio control monitors for close up listening mainly?
They are indeed highly revealing but as they are intended as mid-size monitors not used in near-field monitoring but in more open spaces, they work extremely well in listening distances you would normally use in rooms like mine. With the independent microadjustments for low/mid/high areas it is easy to compensate the placement and the room acoustics if needed.
The sound is revealing, effortless and dynamic without being harsh or too bright. Neutral in positive sense. And with quality preamp and cables I've been able to introduce also the finesse that might be the bottleneck in a systems like this. And as you know my history has been with HQ tubes and horns, so I have some references to back this statement up. I understand why many have doubts for the active systems especially coming from studiomonitoring background but with certain actions it is possible to get very strong bang for the buck ratio. I think I have managed to demo this to some others interested about the subject here in Finland.

All in all, I'm still very pleased for the system and have no plans to upgrade #audiophilianervosa :D

I see a glimpse of some acoustic treatment in the lower half of the face of the gentleman in sweetspot too? ;) Diffusion/Absorption?
Are your Genelec's the £10,000 model?
^^ Yes there might be some significant diffusion happening there at OPs facial area :eek:
The speakers are Genelec 1038B, which is approx 10,000£ per pair in UK I guess. My pair was the last pair leaving the factory and also with the extra real-wood veneered enclosures before the new 1238A with the in-house DSP replaced the model.

Yes I am. I know that some are against mix&match principle but Shindo Monbrison is important part of the equation :)
Really loong loong time without any posts to this forum. Steady life without any changes to the system, so pretty boring in that sense. It seems that the Shindo & Genelec combination killed nice hobby of mine :D Despite music still flows and also today have been listening about a dozen LPs during my day off from the office. Perhaps need to start planning the cartridge retipping soon as the counter keeps growing and growing for both TTs..

Still here occasionally and this time it's summer in Finland +28 deg of C :eek:
Nothing much changed here in ages but during the past weeks made diy lens diffusers looking a bit like Argent Room Lenses. Have had these tubes at the garage for years and just somehow thought to try those out as had really not anything better to do. The elements turned out just fine and have been now in use for few days to have some opinion of the impact also.

I think the ones located at the outer side of the speakers have clear impact to the first reflections but dunno yet about the middle one. It seems that the system sounds little bit more coherent, open and clearer with slightly improved transient response at the mid and upper range. Clearly an improvement, so I guess i let these stay as it s easy to remove these to the side of the room if needed in case of Mrs giving a lecture for the relatives coming to visit us and I have have black ugly tubes at the living room.. :mental:
Just spotted this interesting thread and the bike is also superb.... My son races and I see stuff all the time but your steed really caught my eye.....

considering the music system in my living room no big changes here. Some time ago sold my "collectors" Micro Seiki TT as use my old reliable Garrard much more in everyday listening and felt that two heavy TTs are bit too much. Few months ago retipped my Transfiguration Phoenix II cartridge in Netherlands and fitted that back to my Garrard/SME V combo as the DV20x2 started to have the hours full. Happy for that as now during the pandemy have much more time listening music despite have been working normally so far as I'm working as a nurse..
7 Bikes :eek:. As Noel Keywood ( hi fi world ) once said to somebody who had 24 pairs of speakers where do you put them all ?. Mind you its Finland so room should be plenty I suppose.
Only 2 bikes myself, BMC and Condor single speed. Do you have many ( or any ) bike thieves Mike like the UK ?. Now to read the rest of your thread.
Must be one of the most accomplished systems out there. I have never heard any of the large Genelecs but during my media production days heard quite a lot of their smaller monitors, they all were extremely good. The large ones must be stunning.
Also: this cozy room looks exactly how I imagine my perfect place!
There are some but i's pretty quiet still here in north compared to the capital area or real big world out there. Below few pics of the bikes I have in daily use in addition of the custom Konga fatbike. Konga randonneur. Genesis Vagabond, vintage Peugeot MTB plus Omnium Mini cargo. Still after more than six years they amaze me with their performance. Especially the bass is highly articulate and musical with plenty of depth and grunt. Otherwise their sonic signature is very neutral and simultaneously not very forgiving, so have added some room treatment again and perhaps still would need some as the room is bit smaller than the previous wooden house I had.Quote:

Long time no update but approx half year ago bought Altec 604E Alnico Super Duplexes in Shindo inspired large custom cabinets. The drivers were recently serviced by Great Plains Audio and also got modern autoformer XOs. These are lovely speakers and sound very very real driven at the moment by tiny Audio Note P-Zero monos. Received also Jungsons modern take of the classic LS3/5A monitors from my son, who has used them for years and now moved to other city to study at the pop jazz conservatory and took only the small Genelecs with him. Well, luckily have super heavy filled Pirates stands available to use with these when feel like it.

Here the beat goes on and the Audio Note P Zeros have been replaced by First Watt M2 power amp. Or actually DIY version based on Nelson Pass plans and by a very accomplished builder. The amp sounds wonderful and works very well with the Altecs. Also the streamer has been upgraded to Innuos Zen Mini mkIII from the old Sonos based system and this was a very positive change indeed.
We are also in a process to flip our apartment to a little different one, so interesting times..
