2 Amps....thats quite heavy. is it a 2.1mm plug as per. some of the chinese linear psu's are good vfm

As for NAS drives, what I've got, as far as I know, is just a big square aluminium box with two hard-drives in it, which lights up and makes a whirring noise (due to the cooling fans inside), that is connected to my router, and from there onto the Pi, via cat5e cable. There's nothing complicated about it.

Most routers these days have USB ports so you can just plug in any USB hard drive on to the network, no need for NAS or any other acronym as long as you know how to set up your router. That takes away a little of the tech talk for some.

Indeed... I still don't know where a knowledge of Linux came into it, in terms of operating the Pi, as that is not a factor here for me at all. If it had been, I'd have binned the idea!

Also, what's this PUTTY thing you're supposed to need that some folk are on about? :scratch:
