This sucker was actually given to me by a former co-worker. Works like a charm!

Now that is a true classic. From when does it date?

One particular member hereabouts has been spending many a happy hour lately reliving his yoof with a similar device.
So what memories do you have of such mechanical wonderment?

I remember having something simular in bright red not sure what it was though to play all my singles on back in the late seventies, i also remember fiddlling with it by adding a second speaker and also getting a 240 volt belt of it as it was still switched on when moddifying, my first mains shock i think :doh:,
oh year i had to blu-tack on a 2 pence piece to stop it jumping on certain records

"Blu-tack" surely that would have been Plasticene in the 70's ?

It could well of been plasticine, blu-tack was invented in 1970 and we are talking late seventies it was about then that everyone discoved it i'm sure, my bedroom wall was covered in posters using it. i thought i used Blu-tack to hold down the arm whilst playing my Blondie parallel Lines album :lol:

This is what I had back when I was a kid - a Bush Monarch. Using it was the first chance I got to 'drive' and therefore decide what music I listened to. My parents lived to regret it!

Bloody heck - time flies. Never realised Blu-Tak was that early but, then again, thinking about all the speakers we stuck to stands way back then, you are probably correct.

I still used Plasticene for many years for arm bodging as it was heavier than Blu-Tak.

1977 was the first time I ever saw Blu-Tack!

Below, my other record player - transformer coupled out with PP valve circuit, which sounds fantastic with 78's but is now in need of recapping (and hopefully not new valve bases which crumble on these)
