A legend indeed. Yes, I'll be digging out and playing my LPs of his tomorrow.

He did a tour with John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucía. forgot its name.. was excellent. Sad to hear

No words adequate. He was a genius.
Although known as a 'fusion' guitarist, I very much enjoyed some of his later straight-ahead jazz releases. But, my favourite Coryell has always been his acoustic albums, forty years ago with Philip Catherine, but more recently the beautifully recorded Three Guitars with John Abercrombie and Badi Assad. RIP.
