Does anyone know of someone who could troubleshoot and repair what is probably a dry-joint problem on a Marantz CD-63B (Philips CD100 equivalent)? Works perfectly when warm but left channel take a while to come alive. Preferably in the North, Borders or Scotland. I've had a look inside at obvious causes but it is beyond my pay grade.

It will very likely be a dodgy IC and unrepairable unless one has access to replacement IC's that no doubt were obsoleted decades ago. I would be willing to take a look at it (I don't normally have anything to do with digital though) but I would want paying for my time irrespective of fixed or not and with a caveat that IMHO it is more than 50:50 likely to be unrepairable....

The CD63 (CD100) used Reed Relays as the Muting.
These fail after some time and will almost certainly be the problem
I bought some parts to attempt to fix the same components used in my CD104 but never have got around to actually doing it as yet !!
The Reed part is inside the Coils on a bobbin and would be 'fiddly' (but hopefully not impossible) to replace. See PicAttachment 18221
