Im looking buy a pair of Ditton 66 speakers and would like to hear any comments comparing the Mk1 and Mk2 versions apart from the obvious front veneer. Are they the same or is the crossover different? Which is prefferred?
Thanks for all comments.

Now that looks much better built Andr'e :) Never seen one, thanks for putting up the picture ;)
:eyebrows: There are rather a few by the looks of it
Just found another image for the MK2, it looks like it happens to use the same drivers as the 662 in all honesty  The ABR looks different though. I'm really surprised that the ABR appears to be directly behind the bass driver, if it was me i'd move it so less midrange could get through the cone ;)

They just appear to anodised in a different colour..
Those 662s look the biz. What are thoughts on interface between floor and speaker. Spikes or not? I think Marcos were just placed on granite slabs at the show?
They were Mana Soundbases, Chris, spiked into the floor - not pretty, but very effective :)
I can tell you from experience that those bases were one of the reasons why the speakers worked so well in the hotel room at Scalford - the 'unsung heros', if you like.... ;)
If they'd have just been plonked on the floor, they'd have sounded crap and boomed like hell!
I think the other versions of the 66 look great, but I do wonder if they sound as good as the originals, as they don't seem to be held in such 'reverence' worldwide, or have the enviable reputation and cult following of the originals?
It would be interesting to do a comparison. Ultimately, I'll always settle for 'ugly' looks (although the 66's look pretty nice with their grilles on) and stunning sound over 'gorgeous' looks and average/mediocre sound.
At the end of the day, for me, all hi-fi equipment is simply a tool for reproducing music, not merely ornaments to be admired.
Marco.
Couldnt agree with you more Marco. My ultimate compliment for any system is that i get lost on the music instead of listening for each individual "hifi" quality.
Mana bases, sound expensive if the turntable supports are anything to go by.
Hi all, any opinions very welcome please on the Ditton 66 on eBay at moment. I'm no expert so would appreciate any input
