Sony RDRHXD860S DVR

I've had this DVR for a few years and it's started to play up again. It is currently in an endless loop of trying to boot up and then shutting down. Anyway, it's always been the flakiest product I've ever bought from Sony and I swore I'd never buy another, so I'm actually glad to see it finally die.

Anyway, I use it to backup the occasional show off the Sky+ box and record Freeview shows when there was a clash on the Sky+ box so now I have no means to do this anymore. Can anybody give me some feedback on a good replacement or an alternative for backing up various shows? :scratch:
