well to update this thread i've just bought a EEI-700 cartridge ,Boron cantilever and Shibata Stylus. we shall see how it performs.

all you need is (according to korf) some sort of instrument or software that can measure total harmonic distortion (THD) and plot accumulated...

i disagree,that might be fine with a conical stylus but with modern microline,shibata and Fritz Geiger profiles to get the best from them you do have...

what i mean is when you set up customers cartridges do you tell them you dont bother with sra/vta?

do you practice this and not bother when setting up peoples tonearms?

DONT! it will drive you absolutely mental,i borrowed one a few years back and it did my head in,too many variables and constantly changing numbers...

it changes because your headshell and cartridge are offset to the pivot point,because they are they are moving in an arc when the tonearm goes up and...

shit i forgot about that! now ive gotta start all over again :(

i mean if you set azimuth correctly and then raise or lower the tonearm at the back to adjust sra/vta you are also changing azimuth and will have to...

if you have an off set headshell then you are also changing azimuth,that impacts the sound more than a 0.25mm of vta adjustment to vta.

set it to 92 degrees and leave it imo.
