Evening all,

While cranking up the sound on my amplifier tonight, I realized that although I wasn't playing anything on the turntable, music was coming out from the speakers, quietly but definitely there!!!

It sounded just like FM radio, and after disconnecting the ICs linking my Whest 20 Phonostage and the turntable, silence was re-established...

What can I do to get the rid of such sound contamination?

My system is AUDIO NOTE M ONE, 2 x P ZERO, PROJECT XPERIENCE 2, ORTOFON RED, WHEST PS 20, PROAC STUDIO 150.

Many thanks in advance for all your help...

Cheers

Buy interconnects that are better shielded (or try the suggestions made to you on pfm).

This afternoon went to my local branch of Maplin, picked up 2 ferrite clamps, back home they go around my ICs, and guess what all RF are GONE, not just dimmed, GONE!

Problem solved!

...now buy some more and try them on other interconnects, speaker cable etc. I am fairly sure you will hear a small but worthwhile difference. Its cumulative so taking them a way will show you the loss in focus, clarity and the smearing that occurs if you have heavy RFI pollution in your location. Adding them is quite often subtle so removing is more obvious.
