Hi all,

Was hoping someone could help me on this: I'm having problems with a spitting or rustling sound on one of my Tannoy Lancasters when turned up past the third notch (not particularly loud) of my Copland hybrid. I've been down the swapping speaker cable and tubes channels and it's definitely my speaker. Does anyone know of any similar stories and how to rectify it? I'm hoping it's just a small matter!

Many thanks,
Steve :)

if it's not the cables or amp then i would check out your crossovers, it's the next logical step, good luck

And if it isn't the crossover, then you've probably blown the compression driver in the tweeter section.

It's an easy enough fix (screwdriver and soldering iron required) and either Tannoy or Lockwood will sell you the replacement part.

You can remove the compression driver from the offending unit without unsoldering it and perform a visual inspection to see if the driver or coil is damaged before sending off for a spare.
