I'm after some speakers better than my MF-MC1s (which have tided me over fine for a few months since my Revels went t'Bay).

Something along the lines of: B&W CDM 1se, ATC SCM7, Mission 7-something-or-others, KEF thingies, ProAC stuff, PMC blah-de-blahs etc etc.

Prerequisites:

Budget - a little tight at the mo to say the least, absolute max £400.
Small, no taller than 35cm-ish.
No rear-firing ports please as they're for close to the wall mounting - front firing or sealed only.
Metal or ceramic tweeters preferred but not essential.
Single or biwire - I'm easy.
Well reviewed / respected.
Black preferably, but again not too much of an issue if they're wood or grey.
In decent nick with all accessories please, box not essential.
Nothing that's older than Fred Flintstone's grandmother and impossible to service or repair.

I will collect and I'm based in SW London, I don't particularly want to drive to John O'Groats but a bit of mileage I'm happy to do. These will serve as main channels for a year or so and then be reverted to rear channel duty when I get the 7.1 system up and running again, so nothing that's hard to match.

Any model suggestions would be welcome; I opened up my eBay page and my mind was completely blank of speaker manufacturers - been out of the hi-fi game too long. :)

Please don't be offended if I say no.

AVI N5's are good and despite the port, can be used close-ish to a back wall...

CDM1se's definitely if they're set high with the tweeter slightly above you.

Sonus Faber Concertino's if you can find some

KEF RDM1's

Mission - no, not in the above company

Pro-Ac - saddle-back responses get in the way for me

PMC - the owner's pension fund is getting in the way, but TB1 and 2 are pretty good from memory

Gotta go

Thanks chap! I'd completely forgotten about Sonus Faber, always loved the sound and the look. Not familiar with the KEF RDM1s so will dig those up, PMB - the TB range, of course, that's the pair of letters I was trying to think of.

Thanks!

Sorted. Went for some Scandyna Drops in red (frickin' amazing!). :)

Thanks to all those who got in touch.
