Couple of years back my mate got a stack system from his couision for £10 in there was a Marantz Cd-73, i loved it then not really knowing much about it and said if you ever get rid of it il buy it from you,

Few months later i did some research on the CD player and found out more about it, and to my horror found his dad had tipped it! :doh:

so i started browsing ebay for one and they where selling for stupid money! and told him about it and hes still annoyed about it to this day!

anyone else done something similer?

My dad was one of life's hoarders - he never liked to throw anything, one day everything would have a use. Years ago I decided to help (persuade) him to clear some of the junk out the loft. The conversation went something like this:

me: What's that ridiculous looking thing!

dad: its a valve amplifier

me: does it work?

dad: no, it probably just needs new tubes.

me: it belongs in a museum!

dad: No really, there really good, classic engineering. People still listen to them - it'll be worth money one day.

me: get rid!

My dad wasn't a demonstrative man - he would never get on a table and show off or force his opinions on anyone. Where his two sons were concerned he was probably a bit of a pushover, even when we were talking crap and he knew it. After he died in 2000 I went up to the loft to clear his office. The valve amp was nowhere to be seen.

Most of you know about my ex, but for those that don't
She chucked the following into a skip because she wanted to declutter the lounge

Thorens TD16 mk2 SME 3009 arm
Mission Cyrus 2 amp
Kef Reference 101 speakers
Rogers Super Woofer (the one that matches the JR149's)

Ohhh and all my vinyl, which was about 2000 lp's

All i can say is, she was a good shag :goodnight:
