Blue Horizon’s Ultimate Spike Shoes are designed to sit beneath the spikes that support floor standing speakers and speaker stands. They serve a dual purpose: firstly, they protect flooring and secondly, they enhance sound quality by suppressing resonance that leads to sonically damaging microphony in audio components.
It is the second of these functions that sets them apart form other spike shoes on the market. Uniquely, the aluminium outer casing of each spike shoe is filled by a combination specially chosen materials. The first of these is an extremely dense material placed directly beneath the indentation in which the spike sits, allowing spike loading of up to 100kg.
This is surrounded by a proprietary mixture of materials at opposite ends of the elasticity spectrum. The differing resonant frequencies of these materials ensure that resonance is damped equally across the audio band, rather than simply delivering a tonal shift. The combination of improved coupling and effective resonance control delivers clearly audible benefits, opening up the sound and improving definition from bass through to treble.

Oi Oi ... I need some of these or similar I have plastic ones which are crap ...
What is the material on the bottom ... I like to be able to move my speakers and the ones I have are rubber on the bottom which makes moving them more difficult than it need to be...

One customer who has DCS equipment bought about 8 sets and used them as equipment supports.

Will it slide on the wood floor easy enough for me to slide the speakers around do you think?

Not really boss, they are not designed for that I don't think. They grip really well and are most useful I have found for wood flooring both to stop the spikes damaging the floor and they provide resonance damping. Why would you want to move your speakers around a lot anyway?

I move mine daily from "parked" (safe from clumsy toddler) into "full race trim" where the speakers are sited optimally for listening. If that's not what Hamish does already, then he'd better start getting into practice! :eyebrows:

Because Hannah doesn't like them where they sound best as they stick out a bit ... To be honest I don't move them often ... The main problem with the ones I have is the spikes have gone through the plastic ones I have and jab in the floor ... Which makes them barely worth while at all!!

If it doesn't sound very good ... It doesn't matter as the loft is getting a second analogue hifi with my valves as an option for amp which should be not far off :)

I will post you some small delrin washers with a pimple in the middle for your spike to rest, sorted.

I made them myself to stop the spikes damaging my floor until I used the BH ones which are much better but as they are mot what you really need the delrin ones will work I think, they are for nowt anyway so chuck em away if they don't help.

To anyone who has to have the latest tweaks, these are an absolute steal for the money. Put them underneath your loudspeaker spikes, underneath your equipment rack spikes, even underneath your turntable platform, all will benefit, they even work underneath Oak Cone Feet as I witnessed my self last week.
