Thought I'd start a thread dedicated to iphone/ipod/ipad, Android, BlackBerry etc. apps, specifically related to audio.

Perhaps rather sadly, I've just acquired a 64GB ipod Touch with the main intention of running it purely as a remote control for Spotify. I've banged on before about how good Spotify Premium is - £10 per month gives you unlimited ad-free streaming of the library at 320kbps. So why don't I use it as much as I thought I would? Mainly because I can't be arsed to drag my fat carcass from my listening chair to go over to the computer to search and start/stop the album I want. This App solves that problem!

Remoteless (http://remoteless.no/)

Basically, a small application is needed on the host computer(s) and you need to buy and download the app (£2.39) but once that is done, you select which computer you wish to access (you can have more than one) then then search and play tracks from Spotify on that computer using your iphone/pod/pad. It's brilliant - with one small (large?) omission - you can't access your playlists directly! (You can get around this by entering teh URL and then adding it as a favourite, but you can't natively see a list of all the lists you have in Spotify.) Apparently, this isn't because the app can't do it, but because Spotify won't allow them too. Boooo... No idea why not, or if it will get lifted. Other than that, a great little app that will hopefully have me making more of my Spotify account.

So, what are your audio related app recommendations?

Squeeze Commander for those with an Android phone and Squeezebox setup.
Saves having to peer across the room at those too small to see unless your stood on top of the thing displays :eyebrows:

...and MusicID (http://musicid2.com/) is pretty amazing - Music Recognition software, that seems to find even obscure stuff, gives links to similar tracks, lyrics, YouTube videos and biography information. Rated higher than Shazam, and at the moment its just 59p!

and finally, if you want to find out just how loud you are listening, (and waste another 59p!) Decibel is just that - a decibel meter for your ipod touch or iphone:

I read on the SB forum that it's now been expanded to have player capabilities too, but only on the iPAD, as it's a different OS to the phone (correct me if I'm wrong) :eyebrows:

Hopefully Android will be next for a player ;)

Monkeymote for Foobar2000, iPhone only.

This works flawlessly as a Foobar 2000 remote, even on my hacked together Foobar installation with Foobar running on my Mac, via Wine.

I love the simple UI.

I also use Cleartune, as I can't tune a musical instrument by ear. Very good, looks lovely and works.

And Zumocast, which is kind of like Simplify used to be. It allows you to stream music from your desktop to your iPhone, via 3G over the internet. Unfortunately, Zumocast was bought by Motorola just before Christmas, and they promptly pulled the app from new downloads, pending 'enhancements'.

I am using an Advent Vega android tablet with sqeezecommander app to control my Logitech Touch very useful and handy particularly if your touch is some distance away.

I use SlimControl http://sc.sciatec.de/ for my old WinMo 6.1 based X1

The first WinPhone7 apps have appeared:

I know of two other apps that are in the works...

Some good news if you're a Remoteless user - you can now access Spotify Playlists remotely. You will need to reinstall the latest "helper" application on your host computer(s) - but once that is done you will have access to your playslists from your iphone/ipad/ipod touch - a great app made even better, and now virtually a "must have" :)
