Oh how she loves to insist on moving the living room around ... no idea why ... but for what ever reason she does it, it always means i have to find a new home for the hifi
still i think we are there now ... and its actually sounding fairly rocking!
(do you remember marco, this was how i said i wanted it when you came down ... but she wouldnt let me ... :) )

the hifi is sat on the only bit of solid floor in the room too ... which worked out quite well i think

Looking good Hamish! And I'm sure sounding good as well.

With The Lord Buddha on one side and The Lord Ganesh on the other, you have all your options covered, so you won't go wrong. (Not sure about Paddington though?)

Very nice mate! In in our other house, I had a fireplace widened and raised so I could put the sources & pre-amp - it worked really well. The speakers were at the other end of the room in front of and either side of the other fireplace, which controversially, had a fire in it! Have you given up drinking? - No beer cans in that photo!

Hannah seems to be nesting, the house has never been tidier Marco ... And yes, once again Marco was right ;) ... Seriously though, yeah, good advice to be fair ... I think you would like the system to be fair ... As I have said before, it might not be the be all and end all of hifi, but it makes really easy listening ... Especially now the speakers are well positioned again
The only problem with the lay out is the sofa on the left seems to shift the stereo off to the right by about a foot ... But it's a compromise I'm happy!

It's a little Sony Mark ... It's pretty shit ... I wish I'd spent less on a compact (why I dont mention it on RPF ;) .... Should have got a Fuji!)

Dam straight Keith, as I understand it, all the best hifi is in a fireplace ... ;)
I actually showed my missis the photo of yours and we agreed we need some plants round it ...

Boy are you in for a shock! :D

Make the most of the tidy house! And the sleep. And the peace and quiet. And being able to play the hifi at more than a whisper. (Most of all, get ready for an experience that will mean none of that matters, and the magic of being a family takes over.) Sorry for being sappy!

it might not be the be all and end all of hifi

maybe not, but its certainly up there Hamish - never heard them but your speakers must be pretty amazing, especially now you've got the layout sorted - which took me sooooo loooong to realise (and thanks to Uncle Dave.)

I read something that shut me up the other day Alex ... It said "Even leaving the house is challenge ... Pram, baby dressed right, spare nappies n stuff ..." or words to that effect... What the hell??? I didn't even think of that!!
Exciting times though eh :)

You hifi for £100 challenge has come at the right time!

That looks great Hamish, I bet you're loving it! As someone who can let things get very untidy, but have a wife who encourages me to keep things nice (;)) I can testify that a tidy room is far more relaxing than a messy one, and not just because I'm not getting nagged!

I've always been way impressed by Adam speakers at Shows.

I hope you've got a savings fund for the upgrade to Adam floorstanders .... when the littl'un starts toddling the standmounts might have to go! ;)

As far the issue of them being knocked over ... Well yes, it has occurred to me ... As well as the fragile looking ribbon driver that looks just like the sort if place a sticky little finger might find it's way to poking ...
They will probably go on the shelves behind when the time comes I think ... They don't sound as good up there ... But safer by a margin ...
I have made enquiries about some granite stands ... But it doesnt sound cheap and with the floor being a bit on the wobbly side ... I dunno ... There is definitely a bridge that needs crossing but I can't be arsed to think about it until the time comes really ... I have a couple of years to think on it I reckon! :)

It is, as I have said loads of times as good a hifi as I feel I need really, so yeah, loving it is about right :)
As for the tidiness, well to say that Hannah takes pride in our home would be an understatement ... It does makes a big difference to the mood in the room I think ... I relax so much easier after finishing work since she has got all tidy... And now she likes the layout I'm on to a winner ...
Although for serious listening I do have to move the speakers about 6 inches toward each other and out into the room ... It's fun seeing how long it takes her to notice and move them back ... The longest it's taken her so far is well within a day ... :)

Cheers buddy, well yeah... That has come up... But it would cost a bit to do according to the survey we had done and I spent all the cash in the hifi ... So it's tough titties really :)
