I've just managed to install XP Pro onto a fresh HDD, all went well, up & running, but theirs a problem, when i scroll down the forum for istance the page doest activate my command immediatly, it gradually moved down slowly..Also i can hear the Hard drive working as if it's busy doing something else behind the scenes :lolsign:

Any ideas?

Which browser version, Andre? Also, how much RAM is in the system?

Good question Martin, it sounds like the HDD is being used as virtual memory ;)

Hope you get it sorted Andre :)

Open up Task Manager->Processes and you will see there the process that is using CPU power (as browsing should use very little, ie. 0-1%), which could be affecting your scolling action in browser...

Also, while in Task Manager, go to Performance and look at the peak memory usage. If this is close to the real RAM then your system will be disk-bound and swapping virtual memory like mad, causing all the activity.

To speed up a system, it is almost always best to increase RAM before doing anything else. XP Pro needs at least 1GB these days, with SP2 or SP3, to be able to breath. W7 needs 1.5GB.

If that dosen't work sprinkle some Holy water over it and read the Roman Rites over it.
