Hi all,
I've been reading that I should be putting oil somewhere in my 1210s. Can anyone tell me, in enough detail for a novice, which type to use, and where to apply it?

Ta in advance.

There is a good descriptive thread on the Audio Origami forum showing how to do it using J7s oil kit.

Thanks Colin,

That looks like more work than I'd envisaged! Still, I suppose I'd better get it done. Both my decks are 2nd hand so I reckon they'll need an oil change rather than a top up.
The oil seems a bit pricey though. How much would I need to do a complete oil change on 2 decks? Has anyone used other types of oil?

Cheers
Stewart

Hello Stewart,
talking about the stock bearing, this is the original Technics oil you should use:
http://www.4-dj.de/shop/technics-lubricating-oil-schmier-u-wartungsoel-1210-p-309.html

here on their ebay store, where I bought it some time ago:

or you can ask to http://www.connect-audio.co.uk/, they usually can provide you with everything you need for the Technics SL 1200.

As stated on SL 1200 user manual, you need to apply 2 or 3 drops every 2000 hours of use (about every year or so).
