An official Sonos app (http://mashable.com/2011/02/10/sonos-android-app/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Mashable+%28Mashable%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher) for Android phones is long overdue. Next month the wait should be over.

I don't have an Android phone yet but will eventually and having an extra controller around the house would be handy. The speech recognition bit seems neat.

Not trying to start a flame war but that is one of the reasons that I choose Squeezebox; that it is a open system. We have had Apple, Android, WinMob, WebOS, Nokia,.... apps for years. No need to wait for the main company to deliver something. On the other side I guess that the Sonos apps are more uniform in their functionality. But then again an Android user can choose from 3-4 apps; so if he doesn't like something he can try another.

BTW we just had a price war this week on the Sonos S5; The chain HifiKlubben have been the sole importer for years and was challenged by the supermarket chain Bilka; Both having a lowest price garanty it escalated and Tuesday stopped at halfprise... ca 175£... it ended as they ran out of units

Agreed, that's why I didn't buy an Iphone, I like the open source concept of Android.

Always up for a bit of Sony & Apple bashing...a match made in hell ;)

Have to agree with the other posters it's SqueezeBox and Android for me all the way.

Not only are there several 'controller' apps, I use SqueezeCommander, definitely worth £3 of anyone's money, but a SqueezeBox player for Android is in development...that will really put the cat amongst the pigeons!

A nice cheap touchscreen android epad, with a USB out to a good DAC, will make an excellent scalable player IMHO
