Hello,

My name is Brian, I live near Glasgow.

I've been interested in Hifi for many years now but I've only used a DAC for a year or so.

Have bought a Caiman, done all the mods (as far as I know) and put all my music on a server so it can be streamed to multiple rooms.

Love the convenience of this and the quality is amazing, at least until I listen to my friends LP12/Ittok/Troika/Lingo. The Caiman held its own until the Lingo.

The rest of my system is home made passive pre, Linn LK280, Linn Keilidhs

Hi,

I haven't been here in a while so thought I'd update some details and finaly try to answer the question of what kind of music I like.

I have replaced the Beresford Caiman with a Beresford Bushmaster. A definite worthwhile improvement.

Replaced the passive pre with a Linn Kairn. A huge improvement as the LK280's very low input impedance doesn't play nice with passives.

Replaced the Keilidh's tweeters with Ninka tweeters. Needs a resitor change to the crossovers as the sensitivity is different but once completed the difference is HUGE. Much more detail, space around instruments etc. Just WOW.

Hate the question about musical tastes as I find so much modern music difficult to categorise but here goes.

I like most rock and pop from the 70's to present. Current fav's are Antony and the Johnsons, Crash test dummies, The Mountain Goats, Alabama 3. Always have tme for Pink Floyd, R.E.M., David Gray, Andrew Bird.

These are just examples, I'll give most things a try and these days find myself drawn to the more quirky types of band. Depends very much on my mood.

Don't listen to much Classical, Jazz or Country but I do like Bach, Mozart, Johnny Cash. So I think my tastes are fairly broad and flexible.

All the best

Brian
