There are some tracks that fit together so perfectly that they effectively become one so that to hear one without the other following it (or preceding it) is just wrong. Sometimes they work because they are similar, other times the contrast of two totally different tracks is just perfect.

Some pairings that work like that for me:

Patti Smith - 'Babelogue/Rock & Roll Nigger'

G8SoVfTVLrk (bear with the silence at the start)

Smashing Pumpkins - 'Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness/Tonight, Tonight'

Led Zeppelin - 'Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid'

CSNY - 'Almost Cut My Hair/Helpless'

Ozzy Osbourne - 'Revelation (Mother Earth)/Steal Away The Night'

Dave Brubeck - 'Blue Rondo a la Turk/Strange Meadow Lark'

Ah, now this could be the start of a most interesting thread - those recordings in which the tracks segué perfectly.

The two examples which immediately come to mind are side 1 of Satana, Abraxas and The Rolling Stones, Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass).

No doubt others will come to mind.
