I have completed my change over to a computer based server system. The systems consists of iTunes Apple Lossless Library and Pure Music>(2) External WD Hard Drives (for library and back up)>Wireworld USB cables>2010 Mac Mini>Wireworld USB Cable>Bel Canto DAC 1.5>Cardas Micro Twin XLR interconnects>Bel Canto REF150s amp>Kimber 8VS Speaker Cables>Dynaudio Excite X12 Speakers with Dynaudio Speaker I stands and Solid Tech stand.

How do you find the Dynaudio Excite X12's?

Did you audition them against any other speakers when you purchased and if so what?

Just wondering, as I had thought about these myself at one time but ended up buying a pair of PMC DB1S+'s...

I find the Dynaudio Excite X12s to be quite amazing. I really enjoy them. They are clear, and natural sounding. I have heard them in comparison to some Focal Chorus 700 and 800 series (which I also like) and some Mordaunt Short Aviano series (which are quite a bit less expensive and I did not care for). In addition I have owned Magnepan MMG, Monitor Audio Silver RS6 and Paradigm Studio Reference 60 and other than the low end of the RS6 and Reference 60 they would hold their own or exceed in imaging and soundstage with all of them in this price range. I am considering a move to the X32s but only because I can get a terrific deal on a demo pair.

You have some nice equipment feeding them Mike :) Better than most would do at the speaker price point i think ;)

It's not surprising they could sound damn fine when fed with good gear me thinks! They may not shake you, but as long as they move you is all that matters at the end of the day ;)

Yes, they seem to be a nice sounding speaker, might see if I can get a listen to a pair sometime...

I have a choice between a demo floor pair in Black Ash or a shipping damaged pair (a small mark in the lower right rear corner) of high gloss piano black. The regular price is $3,000 for the ash and $3,250 for the high gloss. I can get them for $2,200 or $2,450 along with about $900 trade value for mine so the net would be $1300 to $1550 for me. What do you think? Is that a good enough deal?

I suppose the best thing is to go along and have a listen to them for yourself and see what kind of damage is on the "gloss black piano" pair and if it detracts from the sound quality or not...

As regards the price, if everything is alright and you are happy with them, I suppose it's not a bad deal...but I'm sure others may be able to point out other things to maybe consider before buying...

The damage on the 'gloss black piano' is a small mark on the right lower rear corner, a small indendation of about 1/4", you have to look to see it. Something punctured the shipping box at that point. They play flawless but I have yet to hear them compared to the X12s which I intend to do this Friday.
