Any Shuttle barebone users? i bought one their 'K45' units ages ago to get going with music files, they are only smallish @170 x 235 mm..I stripped of the glossy black from the enclosure went had it crackle matt black finish..never actually used it for music as intended. It's a very low power design & suppose to be very quiet but i found it a touch too noisey for my audio needs, i recon i could sort it out tho to get it a bit quieter as theirs no demand on it for what i want it for.

I built a small PC based on a VIA mini-ITX board, but decided in the end it was easier to just use a streamer and a USB HDD. Still, the little PC was really quiet after I swapped out all the crappy little fans for decent properly made ones.

I'm not a Shuttle user, but you could try http://www.silentpcreview.com/ and http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/ for inspiration.

Who makes the best fans Steve do you know, seems to be the fan that drags into the enclose thats a tad noisey!
