Hi
Just joined up, looked around a few times but the Gatorised Caiman thread finally got me to join! I am running a Touch with Soundchecks mods, into a newly Gatorised Caiman, Naim Nait XS and Neat Motive 2's. All sourced used and proving to be good value. Not heavily into modding as too afraid to ruin the kit but all for an easy upgrade or two, the Gator is sounding very, very good. Not looking to upgrade much for now though a hi-cap on the XS may be on the cards at some point, would like to try one first though. My other interest besides my family is cycling, road mainly, used to Road Race but now do a bit of time trialling only. Hope I can contribute to the forum as well as learn from, we will see!

Welcome (yet another) Dave. Hope you enjoy it here. What sorts of music do you enjoy?

Hi
I forgot that small piece of information, sometimes we focus on the equipment don't we?! I like all sorts of music, from Verdi to Led Zep, including Jazz along the way. I particularly like The Who, Jimmy Hendrix, Zep, Verdi, Beethoven, Mozart, Pucinni etc. To much music, too little time to hear anywhere near enough!

Welcome Dave! Wonder what it is with Dave's and hifi? - see my "name" above right which I did a few weeks ago! :D
Welcome to AoS - I hail from Northants originally, but also look after a couple of businesses over there now including one in Kettering, but only ever get to see the industrial park and Tesco for a sarnie!
Sounds like you've built a nice system there, and dare say saved a few bob in the process. Good taste in music, too - I'm sure you will fit in great as we have a very broad church of music fans.
Enjoy!

I think there is just a lot of Dave's around, there were three in my class at school and at a business meeting about five years ago all four people in the room were Dave's - it was quite confusing!
I have been through a few years of upgrades, from a Sony CDP, a Technics amp and really poor Celestion speakers to a Nait 1, Marantz CD63Ki and Kef Coda 7's (a revelation after the Celestions) to a Nait 3r and Heybrook Heylios (Still in the loft) to a Naim CD5i, Nait 5i and Neat Motive 2's. Along came a Squeezebox Duet for back ground music, quickly followed by a Beresford 7510, out went the CD5i shortly after as I never played it and couldn't tell the difference between the two anyway, the Duet is now upstairs as this was replaced by the Touch and a Caiman which as already stated is now Gatorised. I thought that was it until I saw the XS at a bargain price so I snapped it up and did not regret it. I started with a NAS in the loft but got fed up with it being slow and a pain upgrading software so I sold that too and built an Intel Atom PC with a 1TB hard drive and this runs 24/7, as I have a full home ethernet network I back everything up to it and then to a USB Hard Drive which remains unplugged between back ups.
I also play music vids through the Caiman and have a Panasonic Blu Ray player and Plasma TV. I want to build in a 5.1 system using the XS's AV bypass but don't want a massive AV amp and I also want to build the rear speaker into the wall or ceiling, we will see, that's a couple of years off yet...
