currently we are just selling the "Strap Buddy" brought to our attention as a useful accessory by our esteemed "west coast snapper" Mr. Chris Dodkin in this thread

We may well take on a few more products in time...
All profits go to help cover the costs of keeping a forum running

Good luck with your venture Hamish, I hope it goes well.
BTW, I have been wondering... what is a real photographer?

A real photographer in the context of forum is a member with a real name...
Its a "real name" forum, ie when you join you have to use your real Christian and surname ... The point is that if people are happy to use there real name when they join they are more likely to be a genuine type of person. If that's the case then we end up with a more happy forum in the long run ...
So far it is working really well, it's not so busy just yet but it's definitely getting there and it's a really happy and relaxed forum ... Pretty much like this place really ... But with more eye candy :)
And yeah, cheers for the words of support :)
Ahhhhhhh I see! I admire that approach.
I admit I did wonder if it was some sort of wanky 'you only belong if you're really a photographer' type thing, which would have been my attitude many years ago when I was a pro, young and incredibly up-my-own-arse. Very pleasing to be wrong sometimes.

I take very much the opposite approach as a "pro" ... Have a read of the "ethos and rules" ... Im a pro in as much as it's part of my profession .. But I know I have a lot to learn ... Smug Photographers who aren't willing to share there knowledge ... Or who do share their knowledge in a patronising way drive me nuts ... Which is prett much why I'm not a member of any other photography forum ...
Im a member of ephotozine and have posted images there where people have told me my image is wrong ... It's not wrong, it's just how I made it ... Thats the key to Rpf ... We tell each other how we would have taken an image but respect each others artistic temprement ... Something that is sadly lacking else where in the photography community ...
We have even recently started a thread where we edit each others raw files ... So far no one has got upset or offended ... Despite me doing no less than 6 versions of one of our admin members photos ... His response was just "yeah I like mine more" ...
You have just made me realise that I might need a tag line of some sort ... Something like "the photography forum for real people" ... I don't want people put off from making the assumption you did ...
It's a good community and we are constantly learning from each other ... I can definitely say my photography has got better from being a member and I think a few other feel the same!
