Well not much time to write as quite a few orders to get ready but boy did I get a shock tonight. A number of 12" singles and LP's that I sent away to be professionally cleaned by a very nice chap called Marco who some may know as a bit of a nutter when it comes to fine details concerning Hi-Fi, well he did say a well cleaned record would be a revelation!

Only played one song which is one of my all time favorites Thomas & Taylor-You Can't Blame Love, the surface of the vinyl was without blemish and the sounds, well I will just say it was freaking awesome and leave it at that for now until tomorrow when I will crack open a can and listen some more. The Techie is singing like a bird!

Nice one, dude - you're more than welcome.

Each record was thoroughly cleaned on the VPI, spending 10+ mins on each album, to ensure that all ingrained dirt was properly loosened and sucked up on the vacuum, and then given a pass with the Furutech brush to remove all static, and finally popped into a Mo-fi anti-static bag :)

Glad you like the effect... You can't beat having properly clean records - it's the only way you can ever hope to hear them properly! :cool:

P.S I don't like the red light on the techie and the green light on the speed control, presume there is a thread to show me how to dis-able them?

Nice one, David. Will you be putting the TecnoArm on in place of the RB300? Think you might be surprised.

I'll be sorting mine as soon as its set up in the new house. If you've not sorted it within the next couple of weeks let me know........

Oh sorry I forgot yet another impulse purchase, only joking mate. Read up and it is a supercharged RB250 is it not? It looks nice though, yes I will try it on and see, want to get these lights dis-abled first, any ideas, which wires do I snip?

Or you could just ask here for the instructions and buy LED's and resistors from RS components or Farnell for less than 99p each !!!

I think David is looking to disable rather than change colour?

I took a look at the SM this afternoon and borrowed one of Leo's pics to work out the following.

I would remove the connection to the following to disable the lights.

Right hand plug Yellow - disable the LED on the speed control slider
Bottom Plug Brown - disable the red strobe
Bottom Plug Purple - disable the LED's on the speed buttons (if you wanted to do that too)

I would look to remove the actual contact from the plug assembly. you can compress the locating tag and draw the contact from the plastic housing of the plug. This way no permanent damage is done.

I have not tested this as yet because my TT is packed up but the info is based on the service manual and Leo's pic.

There are only 2 wires going through the chassis where that light is.

In the photo they are brown and black, but I think they feed from the orange and brown that run across the top of the board. I would snip the black if you need to disable the light but you are not gaining anything in addition to popping the light down in to the "off" position.

If you wanted to remove it completely you could unsolder the orange and browm from the PCB altogether.
