Hi Tom, and welcome to AoS. Are you a piper's son, by any chance? If so, I suspect Mr. Pig will be looking a little nervous... :) Ground Control will be pleased with your first post,
but as Jon said, we're nosey, so would be good to see what kit you've got. Have fun!

I have been a hifi nut for years, firstly owning a garrard sp25 + armstrong amp and building all sorts of speakers, including some that were concrete lined and four feet high. Going on to buy a garrard 401, for twenty quid new, on totenham court rd. Yes I'm that old! I stood at the alter of linn+naim for 20 years.
Eventually seeing the light about 6 years ago I bought some atc speakers and started on an expensive journey.
I now have a kuzma xl and ref 313 arm, Bat 52 pre, Bat P10 se phono, Arc CD5, ATC aniversary 50s. All in all pretty happy with the sound, but...:)

Welcome to AoS Tom.

Whereabouts in North Wales do you reside? Here on AoS, there is a bit of a North Wales 'mafia'. I'm an honorary North Walean myself, or so my North Wales friends call me.

Sounds like you have some good gear there, though shame you dispensed with the 401!

What sort of music do you enjoy? Do tell - we love to hear of member's tastes. Don't be shy - we listen to anything and everything here!

Regards

Hi Barry

Have only just seen your reply - I am in conwy, Llandudno area, have not met any mafioso members as yet.
I like a wide variety of music, have 2000+ vinyl albums several hundred CDs, two thirds rock, blues, jazz the rest world and classical. Have always liked neil young, also things like raconteurs, smashin pumpkins, iron maiden, joni mitchell and alison krauss.

The jazz collection is mostly bebop and hard bop jazz, art pepper, sonny rollins, sonny stitt, coltrane, davis and the like- but also a lot of oscar peterson, keith jarrett and more modern stuff.

have been buying 2nd hand classical vinyl lately, I like solo piano and small string groups. These are mostly 1960s and 1970s, they can sound astonishing realistic after washing if they are in good condition to begin with.

cheers

Hi Tom,

Your tastes in music almost parallel my own (with the exception of Iron Maiden). :)

I have a friend who lives just outside Conwy, who has similar musical tastes. We often meet up, so the next time I'm in Conwy, I'll let you know and perhaps we could meet for a drink.

Get a few more posts under your belt so we you can receive PMs.

I'll forgive you your seduction with the Linn/Naim 'axis': you weren't the only one, it was a case of argumentum ad populam. :(

Cheers

Hi Dave,

Have you heard recently from Barry? He hasn't posted on the forum for a few days, so I just wondered if he was ok?

Marco.

Hi Dave and Marco

No I haven't heard from Barry, he said he might get in touch if he comes to visit his friends in Conwy.
Thanks for your welcome Dave, as you say it is definitely not patio weather. Do you have any Tafia (`a la Dave the thing fish) connections

Dave
